Football Federation Australia Skill Acquisition Program
Southern United FC are pleased to announce that the Girls Only ‘Skills Acquisition Program’ (SAP) will commence in April 2018.
A key aspect of the Football Federation Australia (FFA) National Curriculum is the implementation of a Skill Acquisition Phase program (SAP) to perfect and accelerate the skill development of Girls at the critical ages of 9 to 10. This age group is universally acknowledged to be the optimal mental and physical phase in which children learn motor skills.
Southern United and its coaches have been running a girls only SAP for the last two years. Our club focus is on identifying talented girls within the Casey/Mornington Peninsula region and bringing them into a training environment where they can train and develop with their peers. Training together in this manner accelerates the girls development and increases their enjoyment of the structured program.
The SAP sessions are designed to ensure players have the necessary technical ‘tools’ or functional game skills, so that they have an improved opportunity to play at a higher level . The FFA’s National Curriculum SAP focuses functional game skills around 1 v 1, First Touch, Passing/Striking & Running with the Ball.
Southern United is now taking registrations of interest for the 2018 season. This is a unique opportunity that is not offered by other clubs in the region
